Policy on Duplicate Publication and Self-Plagiarism

  1. Prohibition of Simultaneous Submission

Authors must not submit a manuscript that is under consideration by another journal at the same time. Upon submission, authors are required to sign a Statement of Originality confirming that:

  • the manuscript has not been previously published,
  • the manuscript is not currently under evaluation in another journal.

In cases of confirmed simultaneous submission, the manuscript will be rejected, and the authors’ institutions will be notified.

  1. Prohibition of Duplicate Publication (Redundant Publication)

Duplicate publication includes:

  • publishing an identical or substantially similar paper in multiple journals,
  • overlapping data, figures, tables, or conclusions without proper citation and without the consent of both journals.

If duplicate publication is identified, the article may be retracted, with a public statement indicating the reason and the party initiating the retraction. Authors may also be prohibited from future submissions to the journal.

  1. Policy on Self-Plagiarism

Self-plagiarism refers to the reuse of one’s own previously published text without proper citation. Limited reuse of previously published material (e.g., methodological descriptions) is permitted only with appropriate citation and approval from the editorial board.

Reusing the same results, tables, figures, or conclusions from previous publications without proper acknowledgment is considered a serious ethical violation.

  1. Screening and Consequences

All manuscripts are subject to similarity screening prior to peer review. In cases of suspected duplicate publication or self-plagiarism, the editorial board will initiate a procedure in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Measures may include:

  • rejection of the manuscript,
  • retraction of a published article,
  • notification of the authors’ institutions.
  1. Exceptions

Secondary publications are permitted only if:

  • prior approval has been obtained from both publishers,
  • the source of the original publication is clearly indicated,
  • the work is published in another language or intended for a different target audience.
