POSSIBILITIES OF ESTABLISHING A FARM ACCOUNTANCY DATA NETWORK (FADN) IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Abstract

In the process of adjustment to EU standards in agriculture and rural development, the establishment of the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) in Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the institutional preconditions that must be fulfilled. Therefore, the primary objective of this study was, through the implementation of the FADN research in the agricultural sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to obtain results that will give an overview of the possibilities of establishment and continuous implementation of the FADN in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its development into the system for the collection, control and data processing, determining the success of the farming business and the adoption of agricultural policy measures. To achieve this, the primary objective was to apply the FADN standard methodology in the agricultural sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of the annual FADN research on a selected sample of farms (n=143) in 2011. The following research methods were used, statistical, interviews, surveys, accounting, analytics, calculations and comparisons, provideing the indicators that allow to have an overview of production, economic and financial results of the farming in Bosnia and Herzegovina according to the type of production. The results of this research show that Bosnia and Herzegovina can successfully apply the FADN methodology for monitoring farm operations and agricultural policy development, which is important in terms of the establishment of the FADN system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and future EU integration processess.
